Driving out from Shimla via Theog to reach Narkanda at 64 kms and then turning in to Kullu district at Luhri takes us on to Jalori Pass in the next 89 kms.


Shoja which is a vantage point for a complete panorama of the Kullu area is just 5 Km from Jallori Pass. It provides an encompassing view of snow peaks and valleys, meadows and forests, rivers and streams. Shoja is excellent for walks, treks, bird watching and a nature centric experience and is a recommended standalone getaway for offbeat travellers.
A drive of about 90 minutes the next day will take us to Ropa, better known for Great Himalayan National Park, a World Heritage Site since 2014. Initially constituted in 1984, GHNP was formally declared a National Park in 1999. On the southern edge of the GHNP, another Protected Area (PA) was declared, known as Tirthan Wildlife Sanctuary. This covers 65 sq km and is without habitation.

Nature activities include trekking, pheasant watching, trout fishing, camping etc. post due clearances from GHNP.



A drive of about 90 minutes will take us to Bhuntar Airport. Level 3-4 of river rafting followed by lunch here will need a break of about 2-3 hours. To go ahead towards Manali will take us another 90 minutes with Beas flowing alongside. One can visit Hadimba Temple, Vashisht sulphur spring baths, enjoy a fresh trout fish lunch at a farm en route Naggar Castle and appreciate art at Roerich Art Gallery.
